Verizon Offers $25,000 Reward for Information on Network Vandals
Telecom vandalism and theft are becoming increasingly prevalent, and Verizon is taking a firm stance against these crimes. The company recently announced a $25,000 reward program for information leading to the arrest and conviction of individuals or organized groups involved in damaging network infrastructure.
Recent Acts of Vandalism
Over the past few days, Verizon has experienced numerous acts of vandalism, particularly in Los Angeles and parts of Southern California. Fiber cables have been cut, disrupting wireless and wireline communications services for many subscribers. These incidents are described as a “direct threat to the safety and security of our communities, emergency services, healthcare and all who rely on critical communications.”
Vandana Venkatesh, Verizon's chief legal officer, stated that the company is actively investigating these incidents and cooperating with local law enforcement.

The Scope of the Problem
California appears to be a hotspot for telecom vandalism in the US, with an estimated $252.6 million in financial damage from these outages. California and Texas together account for over half of all reported incidents, with California alone recording 6,297 attacks in 2025. Los Angeles was particularly affected, reporting 1,131 incidents.

How to Claim the Reward
To be eligible for the $25,000 reward, you must provide information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for damaging Verizon's equipment. Anyone witnessing network vandalism should first call 911 and then contact Verizon's Security department at 1-800-997-3287.
