Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S26 FE is gaining traction, and the latest Geekbench results offer a tantalizing glimpse into its performance capabilities – and, perhaps, a cautionary tale about regional variations. The Korean variant, unsurprisingly, outperforms its US counterpart, hinting at a potential disparity in the chipsets destined for different markets.
Exynos 2500: a solid performer, but is it enough?
The Galaxy S26 FE will be powered by the Exynos 2500 application processor, built on Samsung Foundry’s 3nm process node using the innovative Gate-All-Around (GAA) architecture. This design, moving beyond traditional FinFET, essentially wraps the transistor channel on all four sides with vertical nanosheets. The result? Reduced current leakage and a faster switching speed – crucial for smoother multitasking and demanding applications. The processor itself is a deca-core (10-core) beast, arranged in a tri-cluster configuration: a Prime Core (ARM Cortex-X925/Cortex-X5 clocking at 3.30 GHz), two Performance Cores (ARM Cortex-A725 at 2.74 GHz), five Mid Cores (ARM Cortex-A725 at 2.36 GHz), and two Efficiency Cores (ARM Cortex-A520 at 1.80 GHz). The Geekbench scores – 2255 for single-core and 7450 for multi-core in the Korean variant, versus 2426 and 8004 for the US version – suggest the US model might be slightly tweaked or feature a different clock speed configuration.
But let’s keep things in perspective. While these scores are respectable, they fall short of the flagship Galaxy S26 series, which boasts the Exynos 2600 AP (with Heat Path Block) or the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, coupled with 12GB (and 16GB for the Ultra model) of memory. The S26 FE will ship with 8GB of RAM—a reasonable pairing, but a clear indication that this is a mid-range offering.

A familiar design, with a subtle twist
Beyond the silicon, the Galaxy S26 FE appears to be borrowing heavily from the design language of its flagship siblings. A leaked image reveals the phone will sport a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a silky-smooth 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1,900 nits – impressive numbers for a mid-range device. The rear camera module, however, gets a slight redesign. Samsung is calling it the “Traffic Light” module, and it’s now positioned a little closer to the upper-left corner than on the flagship models.
The device will arrive with Android 17 pre-installed, layered with Samsung’s One UI 9.0. Storage options will range from 128GB to 512GB, and a 4900mAh to 5000mAh battery will keep things running, supporting 45W fast charging. Qi2 wireless charging is also on board, with version 2.2.1 promising improved magnetic alignment and reduced heat generation – a welcome refinement.
Early whispers suggest a starting price of around $649.99 to $699, making it an attractive option for those seeking flagship features without the flagship price tag. However, the differing Geekbench scores between the Korean and US versions raise questions about potential performance variations that buyers should consider.
