Spectrum expands fiber broadband to rural texas, bringing gigabit speeds

Spectrum's rural expansion initiative

It's always exciting to see broadband access improve, especially in rural areas. Remember The O.C.? Now, we're shifting focus to Orange County, Texas, where residents and businesses are benefiting from Spectrum’s expanded fiber broadband network. This isn’t just a small upgrade; it’s part of a significant, multi-year initiative aimed at bridging the digital divide.

A massive fiber investment

A massive fiber investment

Spectrum is currently the number one rural internet provider in the U.S. (according to December 2022 FCC data). The company is committing over $7 billion in private investment to add more than 100,000+ miles of fiber network infrastructure across the country. This expansion will bring multi-gigabit speeds to over 1.7 million new locations, a truly remarkable feat!

Reaching unserved homes and businesses

The initial rollout in Orange County, Texas, will connect more than 4,000 previously unserved homes and businesses. This means access to Spectrum Internet, Mobile, TV, and Voice services for those who were previously left behind. It’s a tangible demonstration of Spectrum's commitment to expanding broadband access to underserved communities.

Gigabit speeds and competitive pricing

Spectrum Internet plans offer speeds up to 1 Gbps, with entry-level tiers starting at 500 Mbps for both residential and Business users. Brad Shely, Vice President of Construction for Spectrum’s Texas-Louisiana Service Area, emphasized the company’s commitment to providing “superior connectivity at highly competitive prices.”

Simplicity and value-added services

Spectrum focuses on simplicity, eliminating modem charges, data limits, and long-term contracts. They are also upgrading their network to deliver faster upload speeds - even gigabit-level upstream performance - alongside enhanced multi-gigabit download capabilities. Furthermore, combining Spectrum Internet with Spectrum Mobile, where unlimited lines start at just $30 per month, can significantly reduce costs. This is a compelling value proposition for budget-conscious consumers.

Streaming entertainment included

Spectrum TV plans add even more value, granting access to a wide range of popular streaming services. This includes platforms like Disney+, Hulu, ESPN, HBO Max, Paramount+, Peacock, AMC+, ViX, Tennis Channel, and FOX One. Discovery+ and BET+ are also expected to join the lineup soon, offering a comprehensive entertainment package.
